Education: Tax and Civil Law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

Specialisation: Wage withholding tax and expatriate services, especially severance payments, employee participation and (early) retirement schemes.

Jean-Paul started his career at Price Waterhouse in Rotterdam, when, in September 1998, he switched to Andersen Tax Advisors (afterwards: Deloitte). After having worked as an in-house tax specialist at N.V. Nuon in Amsterdam, Jean-Paul transferred to NautaDutilh in Rotterdam in March 2005. At NautaDutilh, Jean-Paul worked in close conjunction with employment-law attorneys, in his capacity of wage withholding tax specialist.

Jean-Paul is an expert in the field of severance payments. It is especially his collaboration with employment-law attorneys and the dismissal practice that made him a specialist in collective and individual dismissals. A current development in this context concerns the Early Retirement and Life-Course Savings Scheme Act (wet VPL).

In addition to his dismissal-law expertise, Jean-Paul regularly advises on employment conditions, labour relationships, equity incentive schemes, and the ins and outs of foreign employees being assigned to the Netherlands or Dutch employees being assigned abroad.

Jean-Paul is co-author of the fiscal encyclopaedia NDFR and has several publications to his name in leading trade journals. Jean-Paul regularly speaks at seminars and teaches tax law at the Hogeschool in Utrecht.
